It's Not the Clothes That Repel the Man

Proenza Schouler shorts, Vince t-shirt, Bassike shirt, Vans

With my band finally playing shows (and practicing more regularly as a consequence), I've definitely started taking a more laid back approach to summer fashion.  The relentless humidity doesn't help, but, to be real for a sec, there are only so many kinds of clothing that allow a lady drummer to remain ladylike and adequately ventilated--namely SHORTS.  LONG, BAGGY SHORTS.  This is of course perfect for me since I have a natural affinity for men's board shorts and am comfortable coming across as asexual/a 14 yr-old boy.  HOWEVER, I have been pleasantly surprised at the number of heterosexual men who actually really dig the board short/tomboy look.  Perhaps I am blessed to be in contact with a higher species of man, but what some might call the ultimate "man-repeller" might actually not be.  It kind of makes me believe there's hope for humanity yet.  Not bad for a pair (or two, or three) of baggy shorts.

  1. I'm a huge fan of the laid back approach to fashion. So great.

  2. As a former devotee of the baggy short (mostly as a teenage tomboy), you have been my inspiration for incorporating them back into my wardrobe. Not only are they incredibly comfortable and highly functional, but a welcome departure from the expected summer silhouettes of cut-offs and sundresses.

  3. Ooh I just got a pair of Vans slip ons and I'm trying to incorporate them into any and every outfit!
